For over 40 years, Jeff has held professional roles in broadcast television, interactive multimedia, journalism, graphic design, internet technology, web development, online video
and streaming media.
Raised on Video
I've been a part of the digital media revolution since it began - even before actually. Before computers, cameras and the Internet were all connected.
A son of a veteran television producer, I learned video production early through working on various PBS projects.
Whether it was holding cue cards for an NFL MVP, shooting a PSA or handling the teleprompter for a Rockefeller.
Not Your Average 80's Teen
While other kids were watching TV, I was obsessed with trying to make my own shows. Building a news desk or a sports set in my bedroom was a normal part of life.
In this picture, I am hosting 'The Warrior Report', my first show about my football team in all of it's VHS glory.
Today it's certainly not uncommon for kids to make video content at home, but this was 1983.
Getting Graphic with the Amiga
This was a cutting edge JVC SuperVHS setup and the Amiga 2000 multimedia computer. It was here I began my passion for digital design and graphics.
For the next decade I became a strong voice in the Commodore community and instructed others on how to make better video with advanced graphics.
Later equipped with a NewTek Video Toaster, I ventured into 3D animation. The cost of that nifty VHS editing setup? A mere $12K in 1988.
Moving More Into Broadcast
My work evolved into being the primary documentary shooter and an Associate Producer for JFP.
In this picture, I'm working with my Mom Jaynne working on a national PBS documentary on drunk driving. Other shows covered illness, crime and history.
After a number of national PBS credits, she went on to produce over 500 shows of "Medical Answers".
The Web and Streaming
After discovering the Internet in 1994, I moved heavily into web development and streaming media. Starting with Real Audio in 1996, and then postage sized video a few years later.
I started an internet radio station in 2000 after thinking it was now possible to reach the world from your home.
Soulcast.net was an inspiring source of faith, technology and sports for a few years.
Making Corporate Work
My streaming work lead me to world class ISPs. including UUNet and MCI/Worldcom. It was an honor to be featured twice as a Top 100 Producer by AVVideo Magazine.
Adding creativity to corporate training paid off with the
parody show 'Salevivor', which helped inspire and motivate 8 sales teams to up their game - or suffer in an exercise of humility.
The live action series raised morale and increased channel sales, all while having a good time.
The Heart of Cardio News
In 2005, I was hired to lead the design and production of a new physician focused news video channel.
With a great team, the Cardiosource Video Network brought breaking online news, lifestyle and long-form documentary programming to over 40,000 doctors every week.
Reaching thousands of monthly visitors, CVN was
one of the first medical news portals of it's kind.
Sunday Morning Science
In 2010 I was named Senior Producer of a new Sunday morning television program, focusing on biotechnology and healthcare.
'BioCentury This Week' featured global news makers from science, government, finance, pharma and academia. Originating from CBS WUSA9 in Washington, DC, the program was also syndicated on over 30 PBS stations across the country.
After an incredible 223 consecutive weekly shows, the program ended in December 2014.
Jeff Goes High Def
After the success in both television and online video, it was time to build something bigger to serve the growing media landscape.
JeffInHighDef was launched to provide a wealth of video-centric services for business and entrepreneurs alike. Everything from marketing and ads, to live stream reporting and digital journalism.
Today our unique expertise provides the look of broadcast television for online and social audiences.
Getting Social with Video
Today online video is 80 percent of all web traffic. But engaging and well produced media falls far short of that metric.
What this means is that well produced broadcast content elevates your message and vision above the digital noise.
Whether you are going live on your iPhone, or looking to produce a stellar online show, the difference is in the creative, not just the technical.
Hosting and Producing for Social
Live streaming is still in it's infancy, Many seem to think that the ultimate in production quality is the bland double box interview or talking head selfie.
Video has evolved since it's inception. But one thing remains. Regardless of the medium, it is the well produced messages and visual creativity that will continue to attract and engage audiences.
This live stream show was from a 2018 Facebook Watch sports kick-off called A7FLNation. Produced in a home studio with a custom crafted 3D virtual set. Yet, robust with TV quality.
Industry's Highest Recognition
In 2020, Jeff was recently recognized with television's highest honors for his PSA work. Receiving four nominations from the NATAS Mid-South Emmy Awards.
He was recognized with two statuettes for Public Service Announcement Campaign and Photography (Cinematography).
In 2022, he was again recognized with two nominations and a statuette for Outstanding PSA from the National Capital chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
