Volunteer Fire Recruiting Ad's Overwhelming Success

  The Why

Nationwide, volunteer firefighting is facing a crisis of next generation public servants.

Striving to bolster the dwindling number of volunteers locally, the Loudoun County Combined Fire-Rescue was fully committed to seeing needed change and a real solution. JeffInHighDef was commissioned to partner with the agency, to collaborate and craft a new story.

One of personal development and transformational change. Of resilience and giving back, from the eyes of an everyday hero in the making. Someone who stepped beyond fear and risk to care for others.

 Creative Design and Production

This year long project was crafted on symbolic imagery and non verbal messages.

Moments of decision and action that would change the course of this young life.

Production was complex and required the apparatus and assistance of numerous agencies.

With filming in multiple locations from rural farms to suburban scenes. And re-creating an accident scene on one of the coldest days of Winter.

With the enduring theme that anyone can greater purpose and deeper meaning through selfless duty.

 Realized Value

The impact of this ad has been nothing short of monumental

Released in May 2025, it aired over 90days,  across 30+ digital streaming and OTT destinations.

The response was immediately overwhelming. Receiving significantly more recruitment applications than any prior effort.

Performing so well in fact, that it had 453,892 ad impressions. And an unbelievable video full length watch rate of 98.54%. This meant that viewers paused the distractions of life - and it changed them in an instant.

Watching the entire ad, a full minute and a half, in a moment.

Something media distribution outlets took note of, saying 'This just doesn't happen with TV.'

The client went on to say this:

"The campaign has been very well received, and generated a ton of interest. One of our fire companies has stopped accepting new members until they get the current new folks trained.

We have received a ton of positive feedback.

Getting fingerprints done is one of the first things candidates do with us in their on boarding process. Our fingerprinting increased by 49% due to the new recruitment video and the marketing campaign we ran.

I would say that is a huge sign of success."
