  The Why

Volunteer Firefighters are becoming an endangered species in America.

With recruiting down, the International Association of Fire Chiefs selected JeffInHighDef to create a compelling story of the fire service. One written to invoke the pride of the Tar Heel state, and create an emotional message of authentic service today.


To portray daily life as brothers and sisters, family and friends.

 Creative Design and Production

The creative approach began with writing a narrative of small town life and public service. Depicting the    the inner values that comes with being a volunteer firefighter. Carefully wrapped in an authentic voice that captures the emotion and moment.


Shooting took place over two days with both day and night photography. An aerial drone captured the sky images of the twilight highway accident that was constructed for this production.


All public safety personnel in the PSA were actual members of their respective agencies.



 Realized Value

Airing on broadcast and digital media outlets across the state, in it's first weeks hundreds of potential new recruits stepped forward to learn more. Over the course of a lengthy campaign, volunteer interest surpassed all previous advertising efforts.
